Welcome to Countryside!

countryside elementary

Countryside Elementary is one of eight elementary schools in the Barrington 220 School District, serving grades K-5. The original Countryside opened as a private school in 1937 called Country Day School. In 1942 it merged with seven one-room schools to form a public school. A new comprehensive building opened in 1950, serving grades K-8. More than 50 years later, a new building was constructed at the same location and in 2002 the current Countryside opened its doors to students. For nearly 30 years Countryside has hosted the district’s elementary Foundations Program, which delivers individualized instruction for special education students, with a focus on independence, functional skills, and social pragmatics.
